Embryo Donation Appt. Update
Yesterday, on my parents' 33rd anniversary (Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad!!), we met with the new RE to discuss embryo donation. We really loved the her; she was super supportive of embryo donation and was very encouraging to us. She said every single couple that has gone through it at their facility has gotten pregnant, though not necessarily the first cycle. But those stats are fantastic! As you may expect, there are more couples waiting for embryos than there are embryos available. Currently there are eight couples on the list there, and we're number eight!! It could be months or years before our turn comes. She encouraged us to get on some other lists and gave us some resources, so we're working on that, and I've already gotten on some. We can find embryos from anywhere - friends of friends, message boards, other clinics, etc. and they'll all go through a screening process whether from the clinic here in Charlotte or anywhere we might find them. We still don't know this is the route we'll take. When our name comes up, we can turn down the embryos for any reason: genetics (which we'll know), costs, just not ready, changed our minds, etc. In the meantime, we'll be praying for God's guidance about whether or not to pursue fostering or fostering to adopt or to just enjoy our little family of three.

Praying that God provides patience as well as guidance as you move through these steps. Blessings on all three of you! We love you very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. I was going to call you today and see how it went. We will continue to pray for wisdom and guidance as you make all of these decisions. We love your family - whatever size it ends up being!
ReplyDeleteGreat update lady! I'm always thinking of you and your family from afar...
ReplyDeleteBIG decsions, but it sounds like you are doing your homework and relying on God to guide you with these decisions and to give you wisdom. Listen to Him.
ReplyDeleteCorey and Robbie have done this three different times (8 embryos total) and are now pregnant the third time. We don't know yet if it is with one, two, or all three embryos.
We pray for the BEST for you, your body, and your family. Love and hugs!
Love you guys! I feel bad I can't help. I definitely would have wanted to donate, but that's out of the question now. Best wishes and God bless your family as you trust in God to lead you according to His plan.
