10 in 10

Warning: This is long but mostly pics.

We took our annual half-way-across-the-country-and-back trip from Nov 19-28. We spend the weekend before Thanksgiving in Alabama with my dad's side of the family and headed to Nashville for a quick night with my grandparents and were joined for dinner by my aunt, 2 uncles and 2 cousins. Then we went to Omaha and spent 3.5 days there celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and our nephew Jack's 6th birthday. On our way home, we stopped off in Nashville again for another night with my granparents. So in 10 days we hit SC, GA, AL, TN, KY, IL, MO, IA, NE and finally NC. As always, we had a wonderful trip, and Micah travelled amazingly well! Thanksgiving week is one of my favorite weeks of the year!

Just Luke & I on the dock in Alabama. It stayed in the 70s the whole weekend and was just gorgeous out!

Micah with our cousin Davis. These two have always had a special bond. See Chick Hicks (car from the Disney movie Cars)?

Photobucket
Well, Chick Hicks in no longer on the dock. Kimberly and Dale (cousin) are going in!

Photobucket
And Dale literally goes in. He said is was COLD! He spent a good.. I dunno.. 20-30 minutes in there trying to hard to fish Chick Hicks out of the water. Unfortunately, he never found him, though he did find a bunch of river junk and rocks. We went to Wal-Mart later and bought one so Micah would go to bed that night.

Later that Saturday afternoon, all of us except Mom and Micah went to Cathedral Caverns. It was gorgeous!

Photobucket
Hmmm... this got out of order. Oh well. Here is some random hand (Aunt Dana) trying to push all over. Not nice!

Inside the cave.

Photobucket
Beautiful, huh?

Photobucket
More amazing formations.

Photobucket
Me and my fat.. and Luke, too!

Photobucket
My beautiful sister Kimberly, her fiance Doug and our oldest niece Eve.

Eve and Micah being silly.

The next day we took advanage of the opportunity, scenery and available photographers to get some pictures of the three of us together. These are some of my favs.

We made Mom & Dad join us. They didn't even seem to mind! :-)

As we were about to leave the dock area, I happened to look down and spot Chick Hicks!! My dad went and got the broom and pan and he and Dale went to town.

Photobucket
Rescued!!!

This is Tuesday morning on the way to Omaha. We stop off at the same Burger King just outside of St. Louis every year for breakfast. They have a great indoor play area, and so it's nice for Micah to be able to move around a bit.

His shirt says "Are we there yet?"

What's better than jumping on stuff at a hotel?

Photobucket
On Wednesday, we celebrated Christmas with Luke's family.

Tammi, Paula and I modeling the hats our mother-in-law gave us.

Photobucket
Luke, Tony & Mark in their new Huskers SNUGGIES from their mom. Jokes welcome here. :-)

Photobucket
Micah enjoying his new Cars couch.

Photobucket
I'm not even sure what to say about these.

Photobucket
In his new Cars tent on his Cars sleeping bag with Uncle Tony. (In case you haven't noticed, Micah is a bit of a Cars fanatic.)

Photobucket
Jackson with his very awesome Batman cake! How is this kid 6 already?!?!

Photobucket
Paula and I.. and the light fixture. I guess that what happens with you ask someone else to take your picture and then I don't take the time to crop it. Thanksgiving night, Tammi, Paula and I had a much needed girls' night out since we haven't had one since we left Omaha 3.5 years ago! Unfortunately, Tammi had a headache and needed to go home earlier than we'd hoped, but Paula and I found a Perkins open right by our hotel and stayed out 'til 1:30!

Photobucket
Trying to get pics of Micah and Jack.

What happens when you tell a 2.5 and 6 year old to 'look up!'

The one deemed the winner.

Photobucket
No idea.

Playing with, what else? Cars! Micah just loved being with Jackson (and Eve, Jolee and Seth in AL). He hated leaving Jackson and is still asking about him even though we haven't seem them since Saturday morning. It's Wednesday night. I hate that we live so far away!

Photobucket
Uncle Mark and Micah.

Photobucket
Reading and playing with a soft book that Nannie made. He loved spending time with Nannie during this trip, and I'm so glad they'll get lots of quality time together in January when she comes here with my mom after my surgery to help out around here.
