Today I had both physical therapy and a fill at the plastic surgeon's office. As of today I've completed 13 PT visits and am coming along well. We're still working on loosening up the tightness in my stomach and arms, and I'm doing lots of strengthening exercises as well. Those with normal range of motion should be able to raise their arms 180 degrees overhead; my left arm goes about 160-165 while my right is a little better at about 165-170! So we're getting there. My abs are still SUPER tight, but I can stand up straight with no problem and even bend backward using an exercise ball. I'm going to have 2-3 more PT appts and save a few (my insurance only allows 20 per calendar year) for after my surgery this summer. I've been in PT twice a week, but we're spacing these last few visits out a bit more to maximize time, so I'll only be going once a week.
Today was my 7th fill for a total of 650ccs of saline fluid (I was given 300 during surgery). My skin has been doing very well; however, while I need another fill or possibly a few more, we're not sure if my skin is going to be able to stretch that much more. We weren't even sure we'd get all 50ccs in this morning. I've been getting the fills once a week, but we're going to take next week off to give my skin and muscles a little rest and see how much, if any, they're going to loosen up. So, we'll see. If my skin and muscles won't tolerate anything further, then my surgeon will just adjust the left side accordingly at the time of surgery which will be 2-3 months after my last fill.
I'm very excited that from this point on I won't be going to Charlotte three times a week, though Micah will probably miss all the playtime he's had with many of his friends. We've been so blessed and fortunte to have many people volunteer to help with him so that I can get to all these appointments, and I'm forever grateful to them (you) all! Now we'll have to get together just for the fun of it!
