My Election Day Thoughts

I'm not a very political person. But I keep up the best I can.

I care about this country and our future, and I certainly have my thoughts and opinions on issues and candidates.

I will vote. It is important to me to exercise my right to vote. Some years I will vote for someone. Others I'll vote against someone. And of course I will hope 'my' candidate wins.

But I chose not to worry about it. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6 (emphasis mine)

I chose to pray about the election, the candidates and the winner regardless of the who it is. "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority..." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Regardless of the outcome of this or any election, I will remain thankful that my hope is not in man, groups or parties. "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him." Psalm 62:5 (emphasis mine)

Christ Himself submitted to authority standing before Pilate knowing that the only power he had came from God and that God was in ultimate control and had ultimate authority. He prayed for His enemies, for those who rejected Him, for those who blasphemed against Him.We are to follow His example.

I did my part. I voted. I have prayed. I will continue to pray. And I will rest in the knowledge that God is good and most powerful with all authority all the time.
