Just over a week ago on Friday morning I fell on the driveway. I was carrying Levi in his car seat and all I could think while going down was not to drop him! I didn't, but my left knee and right ankle took the hit. The pain was pretty bad and I screamed out immediately. Poor Micah was scared to death and couldn't understand why I was crying and couldn't get up. After a few minutes I was able to get up and went to a friend's house for a play date. I took my shoe off there and got a look at it. The swelling was pretty bad and the pain was worsening. I kept ice on in there for about two hours.
I called Luke on our way back home, and he was adamant about coming home since I was in so much pain. Just over an hour later he was home. We'd planned a trip to my parents' house in TN for the weekend, so we just left a few hours earlier than planned.
The weekend was great though I spent much of it sitting with my foot elevated. By the time we got home last Monday night, it was getting a bit better. But that didn't last long. Tuesday and Wednesday the pain and swelling were getting worse again, so I decided to go to the doctor.
I went last Thursday morning and had the doctor look at it and had some x-rays done. There was no fracture but a definite sprain. I was instructed to keep it wrapped up and wear the brace anytime I'm on my feet and with shoes on and ice it several times a day for 10-15 minutes. The inside of the brace is a gel that can be frozen, so that's pretty convenient.
A friend of ours who is a physical therapist came over the next evening to show me some strengthening exercises I can do, so I've been working on those as well.
Hopefully, in another month or so, I'll be back to normal.
