Though we knew it would happen, today it officially did. We are officially home study APPROVED!!! One milestone down!! And not many more to go! This is a huge weight lifted as this has been one of the longest parts of the process with a few bumps along the way. But God is good, and we are finished with this part!
So where does this put us?
Yesterday, I sent the appropriate documentation to USCIS. Once they receive that and match it to our application (that we sent back in May), we'll get a fingerprint appt. Once we have our fingerprinting done, we'll get an approval document saying we're good to go. Then we'll send that to the girls' country.
On Monday, I will send our home study and a few documents that go with that to Raleigh for apostille. Once I get those back, I will send that stuff to the girls' country.
Once the home study documents and the USCIS approval are in country, we'll have about 1-2 weeks to wait for everything to be checked over and translated, and then we'll be submitted. Once submitted, we're just waiting ducks. We wait to get a travel date and then go! Our best guess is that we'll travel in December or January, but it could be sooner OR later. At this point we're basically in the hands of our government and their government, so anything could happen. :-)
But for now, we're approved, and it feels sooooooo good!
We're coming girls. We're coming.

"We're coming girls. We're coming." This just melts my heart!
ReplyDeleteDo they even know that there is a family working hard to be their forever family? I imagine not, or not yet, but wondered.
Hope things come together exactly as they should.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you guys on checking another big thing off the monumental adoption to-do list! :)
