I just spoke those words to two different customer service representatives when I called to cancel our satellite service. You'd think I'd asked them to chop off my arm. I was offered every possible solution and alternative they could find to this seemingly horrible 'problem' of us not wanting our satellite package anymore.
Don't get me wrong - I do not think TV is bad or evil in and of itself, and we will likely subscribe with another cable or satellite provider down the road, but lately, Luke and I have really been feeling God calling us to cancel ours for two reasons. 1) We're diligently trying to save for our adoption, and this was one of the last things we can cut from our budget. 2) While we don't feel that we watch that much TV, we need to cut back and find other ways to spend our time. With network websites, Hulu and the like, we'll still be able to watch our favorite shows (and when we want just like with the DVR), and especially since it's nearly summer, we won't be missing much anyway.
Come June 7th, it's gone. We're only making a summer commitment for now. We'll reevaluate when football season begins. :-)
