Happy Halloween!!
I'm bald, one-boobed, have a huge incision from mid chest to back with tons of stitches and two blood-filled drainage tubes hanging from my body.. yeah, don't think I need a costume this year. ;-)
All in all things are going ok. I came home Wednesday afternoon and felt decent that day. Yesterday I had so much pain! I took lots of meds and slept most of the day away. In the afternoon, I had a burst of energy and got up and played with Micah a bit on the floor. When we emptied my drainage tubes I started feeling really strange. I broke out into a cold sweat, started shaking but couldn't move and got really nauseous. I thought I was going to pass out. Mom and Luke said I turned green then gray. At one point I couldn't even talk; my body was so heavy I couldn't move and I thought I was going to fall over and die because I could hardly breathe. Fortunately, they got me over to the couch, put a cold towel on my head and started forcing me to sip water and eat peanuts. I guess it took about 5 minutes, but I finally started coming around. It was about an hour before I really felt normal again, but after that, thankfully, I was fine. It was really scary though!
Today has been ok. I'm still in a lot of pain but have a bit more mobility in my arm. I'm still extremely limited though. And not being able to pick up Micah is really horrible. Fortunately my mom and dad are here. My dad will leave this weekend but mom will be staying another 2 weeks or so until I'm able to lift, carry and hold Micah. I try not to look at my incision much. I saw it Wednesday for the first time (it'd be covered 'til then), and I just cried and cried. It's still very surreal to see. I have an appt on Monday and hopefully we'll be taking out at least one tube. We'll also be getting the final results of the sentinel lymph node tests which should just be confirmation that the nodes were clear of cancer.
I guess that's it for now. I'll post some pics of Micah's first Halloween tonight or tomorrow morning.
